Web guru

An accolade bestowed upon those in the industry who actually "get it" in terms of knowing how to combine Internet technology with Web design, it is also a name given to the person who handles all of the Web/Internet needs of an organization or company.

Historical perspective: The term "Web guru" appeared circa 1995 to describe a "Web grrl" or "brogrammer" who inherently understood how to combine computers and the Internet and the Web for useful applications and interesting multimedia design. As the term implies, a guru is also concerned with developing sites that have a purpose. They are passionate about what they do.
