Storage Area Network
a.k.a. auxiliary storage -or- mass storage -or- SANA network exclusively set up to hold and retain data. A SAN is a network-based architecture that separates servers from storage. It provides a tremendous level of performance and flexibility that not even mainframes could supply in the older computing world. Mass storage is measured in kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, and terabytes.
