silent commerce

The name for the execution of business transactions between electronic devices. It's called "silent" because it happens without assistance or without awareness of the owners of those devices.

This expression extends to all technology based on wireless communications and sensing devices that permits various business and marketing activities to proceed without direct human intervention. It happens on the basis of communications between tagged products and controlling software.
