A software program built into Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser, this product enables groups to teleconference using the Internet as the transmission medium. It supported voice, chat sessions, a whiteboard, and application sharing.
Historical perspective: Early IM programs like NetMeeting were groundbreaking at the time but now seem primitive due to advent of video conferencing software applications such as Skype.
