Motion Picture Experts Group A type of audio/video (multimedia) file found on the Internet. In order to hear or see an MPEG movie, you will need to install a helper application or a Web browser plugin.
MPEG is an algorithm for compressing audio and video, not to be confused with "Motion-JPEG." MPEG file names end with .mpeg, .mp1, or .mp3.
