A combination of the words "list" and "article" a "listicle" is a short-form of writing that uses a list as its basic structure, but is beefed up with sufficient verbiage to be published as an article. According to a 2013 cover story by Time, millennials love listicles.

Used in journalism and blogging, a typical listicle will feature a number in its title, such as "10 Apps to Download for the Camino" or "25 Ways to Please Your Lover" with subsequent subheadings within the text itself reflecting this schema. The word is a portmanteau (because it is derived from list and article).
