force quit

a.k.a. consciously uncoupling

In online dating it's slang for breaking up, as in "They force quit that relationship a long time ago but they're still friends."

In tech speak it's the function on a computer that allows you to shut it down without having to wait for the computer to shut down itself, usually to quit out of a program or error. The keys on a PC are Ctrl+Alt+Del. On a Mac you click the Apple logo in the Menu Bar and select Force Quit, or use the keyboard shortcut Command-Option-Escape.
