a.k.a. diskette -or- floppy diskette -or- floppy The common name for a floppy disk, it refers to any type of portable disk (for example, a Zip Disk), as well as to the hard disk drive in your computer. It is rewritable, which means you can add data to it or replace the data that's on it.
