cost-per-thousand -or- cost per thousand

A marketing term that refers to the amount of money charged for one thousand page impressions. For example, a $5 CPM represents $5 per 1,000 displays of an ad banner. The "M" comes from the French version of the Latin term "mille," which means thousand.
