coffee badging

a.k.a. pop-in
The habit of checking in at the office, grabbing a coffee, and then promptly checking out, or sometimes staying only for a few hours. It's more or less the equivalent of leaving your jacket on the office chair.

Historical perspective: Post-pandemnic traffic patterns in 2024 revealed more office pop-ins and shorter workdays as more and more commuters settled into flexible hybrid working arrangements. For example there are now almost as many trips to and from the office being made at noon as there are at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. which seems to confirm a wider acceptance of "coffee badging."
