Not In My Back Yard (pronounced: nim-bee)
NIMBY refers to a person who is against building something perceived to be unpleasant or potentially dangerous in their own neighborhood, such as a landfill or hazardous waste facility, especially while raising no such objections to building a similar development elsewhere.
An acronym used in texting, online chat, instant messaging, e-mail, blogs, newsgroup postings and social media it is also considered a form of online jargon or text message shorthand.
